in the beginning

Truthfully, I'm not quite sure what happens in the beginning... that's tomorrow. After 10years and 3degrees they're actually going to make me work. I'm 28 and have never worked more than a summer job or an assistantship. All of which makes tomorrow somewhat of a big day.

Except it isn't. I mean, how much really goes on the first day? Introductions. Syllabus. Done.

Here are my 2classes for tomorrow:

10:00-10:50 Introduction to Psychology... with the other 5professors teaching it. I won't be teaching my 6lectures until November.

7:00-9:30 Senior Integrative Seminar... after tomorrow, we only meet 6 more times.

[My mom will be cursing me as she reads this. Don't I realize how lucky I am to have this job?! With this schedule?! It will never be this good again!]

[Hi, mom!]

Of course, as the semester gets going there will be more to do in the classroom. And there's always my research. And the tiny minor minuscule detail of applying for jobs... But it should be a good first day.

Colby actually ushers us into it quite nicely. There's a 1st year assembly, which isn't the most thrilling (not bad, though), but it is quickly followed be a (free) faculty lobster bake. Just returned from eating my first whole Maine lobster. Delicious.
